Ellen DeGeneres to Host The Oscars

Ellen DeGeneres will host The Oscars.

DeGeneres announced she will host for this year’s Oscar on Twitter, writing, “It’s official: I’m hosting the #Oscars! I’d like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra.”

This is Degeneres second year as header for the Oscars. For her work in 2007, the funny daytime show host earned a nomination for a Primetime Emmy.

Fans can look forward to plenty of funny plugs to promote the big day as the Academy have started making choices about next year’s Oscar’s. Earlier this year outgoing president Hawk Koch made the decision to rehire producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to produce next year’s 86th Academy Awards, which airs on ABC March 2.

“I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say — the third time’s the charm,” DeGeneres said in a statement.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2013 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and televised live on the ABC Television Network.
